It was so terrific to see you at the Ocean County Library in Toms River last month. You really speak and cook from the heart! You really touch all of us! Thanks for such an enjoyable evening!
God Bless you and your dear family and come back again!
Daisy,
We are interested in finding out when you will be in the NJ area doing a book signing, cooking class, etc. We are your biggest fans and enjoy your cooking show so much. It would be our pleasure to meet you and an honor to cook with you. I hope to hear from you soon!
Daisy, I miss your TV show. We need you back. I don’t have my Sunday afternoon cooking inspiration to help guide the menu. Have a great new years. Hope to see new programs soon
Ray
Dear Daisy:
When are you back on tv? All the shows I have seen them I love to see you and my Dad (a real old fashion guy from Puerto Rico) loves your show
Hope to see you soon
Carmen
You are wonderful! My friend Mickie told me about your show, and since then I’ve been addicted. I’ve never been much of a cook, but with your cookbook, I’ve received rave reviews! I even made your yellow rice for my family reunion last year in Kentucky, and I was the “hit of the show”. I had several relatives ask me for the recipe, and I just showed them your cookbook, and gave them hints about where they might find some of the items. Thank you so much, and I can’t wait to see your new shows.
Thank you sooo much for the wonderful cooking class yesterday at ICE. It was incredible!! I will be dreaming about the Chicken and Fig recipe for weeks to come. Thanks to you, I now feel confident about my rice-making skills. My husband is especially excited about my new skill as it will round out his favorite dinner—pernil!
You are one in 10 million and I am so happy to have met you and Migui. You girls ROCK THE HOUSE! Keep going with your bad selves! I adore you both!
HELP!
First and foremost I would like to say that I enjoyed your show when it was on the air!
But I really need some assistance. I purchased your book - Daisy Cooks, but the recipe for habichuelas guisadas lists 1 cup of sofrito to a can or 1lb or dried beans. I tried the recipe and something did not seem right. I went through two batches of beans and both batches were “soso”. I sent an email on your previous site and did not receive a response.
Here’s the part where I need some serious help, I am celebrating my birthday in May, and I am inviting family (a whole bunch of puerto ricans - you know we like to party!) to my home for a birthday celebration.
I can make an “ok” pernil, rice, tostones (I have yet to make your vinegar or mojito) - but there are three things that stump me in the kitchen - beans (all types), making a good cup of bustello coffee, and how to know if you have seasoned the food well enough.
(That was why I bought your book). I am torn because with pernil, our family always has arroz con gandules, but since that dish was my grandmother’s favorite (she has passed) I WILL NOT TRY to even attempt this dish. (You know, my mom is coming over…). So I would settle for learning to make stewed beans…
By the way, when are you teaching at ICE in NYC again, I would like to sign up!
I am sure that you can appreciate the type of commentaries I would receive if it dinner doesn’t go well….
Hola Elizabeth,
What part of the recipe is it that you are finding so-so? I always make my beans very well seasoned, so I am not sure what the issue is…and which bean recipe in the book are you referring to exactly? The black beans? The white beans? The pink beans? Let me know…I’m sure we can work through this together.
Hasta pronto,
I just have to tell you how happy I am that you have your site up & running. I saw you on Rachel Ray & I was thrilled to hear that you are doing new shows. I have missed you. I think you are just too cute. My Husband loves that you make delicious & different things. He bought me your book!
I just recieved your new website daisy!! I have been wondering where you went. I love to watch you cook. You have such excitement about your food. I have your cook book. The caldo gallego is my favorite!! Your yellow rice is also good. The only jars of alcaparado i found have pits in them. Do they come without the pits? I made your achiote oil also. Thank you for wanting to share your passion for cuban food with us! Looking so forward to seeing you on public tv again. michele
Thanks for the warm welcome! You can in fact find alcaparrado with no pits, but I think they call it Manzanilla Salad…GOYA has it in the same section that the alcaparrado is in. Stay tuned and stay well!
Daisy, I just wanted to tell you that you are a wonderful resource for me as a newly married Puerto Rican woman who has been so intent on focusing on her career that I seemed to have let my domestic skills fall by the waistside. Your shows and cookbook have given me the confidence to embrace my domestic goodess. I had the pleasure of meeting you awhile back when you were getting a Hispanic heritage award from the NYC Comptroller and our mutual friend Eddie Castell. Good luck and I can not wait to see the new shows!
Thank you so very much for writing in! I am thrilled that I have been able to inspire you, and even help you through the road back to domestic Goddess! Give Eddie a big “Hi!” for me!
I recently discovered you when I bought a new HDTV. In my area, you are only on the HD channels. Anyway….let me tell you, you have inspired me out of a serious food rut! My husband is in Iraq right now, and since it’s just me and the kids we’ve been living on the same ol’ easy dinners. Not anymore! My son is IN LOVE with tostones and mojito. IN LOVE! We can’t go to the grocery store without him begging for “tanos” (platanos) to make “toe-toe-nays” I am ordering your cookbook soon so that I can try out all of your other yummy recipies that I haven’t watched you make on your show. Can’t wait!!
I LOVE emails like this! I am thrilled that you are enjoying the show and thje recipes! Let me know how the rest of your kitchen adventures go, and be sure to give you little “man” a special hug from me, and of course, my gratitude and prayers for your brave husband.
I have to tell you how much I enjoy your show. Even though I am hardly ever home to watch it, I TIVO it and catch up once a week - alwasy an adventure with you!
I am dying to try your tostones with mojito recipe and chicharones de pollo, I will let you know how I do!
Please please please come back to New Jersey! I know you were in the Woodbridge area not to long ago pero I missed you!!! I tell everyone you are my “my new friend, the puertorican cook” LOL Que fresca soy right?
Well, I will continue catching you on TIVO and look forward to seeing you in the NY/NJ area soon!
I want to share with you, a very important message. My mother who is going to be 78 this year LOVES YOU she really thinks that you are one of a kind. My mom enjoys watching you because you’re so full of life and you make her laugh. She doesn’t laugh much these days . Please let us know when they are going to put you back on kcet or 58 and or 30. We live in California. My mother and I would like to meet you but, it doesn’t look like you will be around Los Angeles any time soon. Well God Willing I’ll be praying very hard. My MOM is a wonderful person and she deserves much more than I can give her.
I had to write again to let you know I have been “Daisy-fying” so many of my meals with the inspiration from your cook book & show. Let me just say YUMMY!
I had a hard time finding achote seeds & culantro. I found both at an Asian market. That was a nice surprise.
I also wanted to tell you that I named my beloved new puppy Daisy. She’s a Mastiff & adorable!!
Thank you for the continued inspiration,
Sincerely,

Hola Daisy!
Iam a true fan of yours! i have recorded all your former shows. I currently live in New York(New Yorkrican)I will be moving to Baltimore to be with my future husband! who has learned to love Puerto Rican food. I would love to see you! would you be in New York at ICE or any other location? before Sept 22nd, I would love to take one of your cooking classes. If not would you be going to Baltimore if so I would be there….. To take a class from a wonderful latina woman.
Hola Jenny! I’m currently working on a project with ICE, but it is not open to the general public. It is a cooking contest for HS seniors, and we are all thrilled to be a part if it..
I am not sure when I will make it to your “neck of the woods”, but one thing is for sure: My schedule changes often, so keep visiting the calendar for updates….
I just want to let you know what an inspiration you and your show, Daisy Cooks, have been to me. I love your recipes and your upbeat and engaging personality. I’ve taped all your episodes and I watch you to inspire new recipes and cheer me up when I’m down. You truly are a beautiful person inside and out - thanks for bringing Latino food and culture to the forefront.
I have seen your shows on PBS and must say I find it one of the best cooking shows I have seen, and I have seen many. I would hope that the food network would pick up such a talent for we would like to see more. I hope you will make it to our neck of the woods (Seattle) some time.
Thanks for reading this and hope to see more of you soon.
P.S. I will continue to inform the food network what they are missing.
Thanks Richard! You are too kind! As soon as I have a concrete idea of what’s next for Daisy Cooks! I will inform you all..we are working hard on going back to studio soon..
Hi Daisy. I love your Daisy Cooks book. My favorite recipes are your yellow rice, sofrito and the aji hot pepper sauce. I also love your black bean recipe. I’ve lived in the south most of my life, but I’d never used a smoked ham hock before. Who knew it could make such a delicious flavor for the beans? They’re great.
I missed you when you came to Chapel Hill NC a while back. I hope you come back so I can see you cook in person.
Hola Kathy,
I’m thrilled you are enjoying the book! I fell in love with Chapel Hill, NC and would be happy to go back anytime they Southern Seasons invites me!
Dearest Daisy
You are the most charming, articulate and creative young chef. No overblown BAMS, phoney chatter, bands, audiences, nonsense, just fabulous cooking. I’m middle aged, dont know ‘bubkas’ about Borinqua cooking, but you’ve opened a new door for me. Someone on some BIG network is gonna wake up, you’re not getting enough exposure on a Sunday at 6pm.
Everytime you bring out that jar of mojito, my Italian side goes bonkers..gotta make some.
Hi Daisy… Your food is fabulous! Thank you for such a wondeful book.. I love it! I would also love to see you in person so that you can sign my book… I live near The Culinary institute of America. Do you plan on visiting the school to do a demo? You need to show these people what “real” Puerto Rican food really tastes like…LOL
Keep visiting the site for updates on my whereabouts. I just did a dinner at CIA Greystone, CA, but have no plans to do anything at the East Coast location as of yet..
Saludos y gracias!
Hola Daisy,
How are you? I hope that very soon I will see you on the FoodNetwork. I can’t wait. To think that you and Rachel will be doing something together is FABULOSO, QUE EMOCION.
My best to you and yours
Carmen ,Bx NY
My Great Grandmother is from Ponce and has left us a long time ago, but I still remember the frangrance and taste of authentic Puerto Rican food. I was so happy to catch your show by chance one day (and stayed a loyal watcher ever since) and see all of the food you were cooking. It has truly inspired me to cook and remember the foods my heart desires. I have begun following your recipes and my oldest daugther and I (she’s 10) are always collaborating on when I am going to try one of your recipes. Through your show, I have been provided a window to keep this part of my heritage alive and well. My Great Grandmother Laura (Meta)Medina would be very proud.
Thank you for all of the fond memomories that were hidden away and who would have thought it would spark with food.
Thank you and I hope you and your family enjoy the holidays (we will with the Roast Pork).. LOL….
I love your show. I’m from Canada and to see some latin cooking is very refreshing. Please let me know how to order your book since on the website there is no option other than U.S.
Hola querida daisy,
I moved from Brooklyn to the DFW area here in Texas going on four years now and I been so homesick (Missing my Nuyoricans!)But one day I happen to catch your show on KERA channel 13 on Sundays at 11am , I was so thrilled to see a fellow boricua showing them what real caribean flavor is ALL ABOUT! I cant wait till your on the air again.
My mom made the Best pasteles on earth, But when she passed earlier this year, I didnt think I could ever make them again but seeing you and your family making them inspired me to make them again. Keep on shining like the borinquen diva that you are!
I have been wanted to write to you for some time to say thank you, thank you and thank you for bringing Puerto Rican cooking and other Caribbean recipes to light via your show and your web site. I live in NJ and my daughter and I love your show. Like an earlier poster I thought my mother made the best pasteles however, she left this earth with no written recipe. I tried it once about two years ago and did not realize how much work my mother put into making her family happy for the holidays. However, seeing your show inspired me to make them again which I did last weekend and now my family is going to have a pastele making family next weekend. It should be a lot of fun and a tradition we hope to continue to pass forward to our kids. Thank you again love your show and we love you!!!
Felicidades! Thank you for bringing back all of my childhood memories through food. My house smells like Abuela’s (she has passed)house now, and although there are some recipes I remember, there are some that I lost. You have helped me greatly! Thank you. God Bless. May you have a Happy, Healthy & Blessed New Year!!!
Dear Daisy You are a Nice person. you make good food. You have a beautiul smile. I would like to eat at one of your restturant one day. I watch your show every week.
Thank you so very much Jamaal, and I am thrilled that you are enjoying the show. Hopefully, you will be inspired to venture into the kitchen and try some of the recipes! Stay tuned and stay well!
Dear Daisy,
I moved to Cary North Carolina in June from New Jerey. I am no longer able to watch your shows…don’t know why it’s not being picked up here. However, I do check your website occassionally for recipes not in your book. I was wondering if you have plans to visit North Carolina in the near future for book signing or cooking ventures.
Thank you
Irma
I don’t have anything on my calender as of now, for North Carolina, but that can change at anytime! Keep your eyes on the calender on the website. I would love the chance to go down to NC!
oxoD
I just wanted to say that your book and your shows have completely changed the way I cook. My family and friends all have remarked what a great cook I am, and I really owe that to you. I have always wanted my home to be warm and inviting full of love and food and what I have learned from you has made that possible. Thank you, Daisy.
I stumbled upon your show about a month ago and I am very very happy that I did! All your dishes make my mouth water and make me hungry too!!! I just purchased your cookbook and I can’t wait to try your recipes! I love foods from all cultures. You are so passionate about your heritage and I think that is awesome! My culture as far as our food and our language has a lot of spanish influences, watching you takes me back home and I am MANY MANY miles from home. So not only do you bring comfort food, but comfort from feeling at home if that makes any sense. Keep up the good work and I hope to see you on tv for years to come!
I’m an old school cook - like you. I use mami’s recipes for pasteles, mami’s sofrito, mami’s macarones con pollo, etc. Can you tell i’m a Newyorican - lol. I purchased your book when it first became availalbe and I must say that you are right on target - same as my mami, although I must admit that the flan recipe is now my staple and must make for every occasion. I recently also purchased a masa machine for making the masa for my pasteles - I haven’t made them in so long because no one had mami’s recipe, but I now have your’s and the minute I make them, i’ll take a picture to send you. Will you be on tv again? I see your show listed but it’s not you - it’s Jacque Peppin - how strange.
Hola Daisy,
lets just start off by saying I absolutly love your show.Im 14 and I enjoy cooking Spanish food and im not even hispanic im actually middle eastern.I stay up too watch yor show witch sometime airs at 2:30 in the morning on the weekend.I keep telling my mom we need to make sofrito and put them in baggys.Well anyway you are my favorite cooks I can tell you love what you are doing and it is a pleasure watching you.
P.S Do you have any good ideas what to make for my Dominican friend I want to make him dinner. The only thing I know is how to make Habuchuelas con Dulce and
fried paltanos .LOL I would like to know how to make a actual Dominican meal.
thanks for the tips and best of Luck.
Sara-philadelphia
Hola Sara,
Thanks for the great blog comment! I think you should make a Dominican “bandera” if you are feeling adventurous. It is white rice, red beans , and either roast chicken or broiled steak seasoned with plenty of abodo. Toss some tostones along side, and you will have served your Dominican friend an homage to his isla Quisqueya. By the way, search Boriqua Blog for my tour of the DR last summer, and take a peak at all the wonderful food I experienced down there!
Keep in touch!

I am not sure when I will make it to your “neck of the woods”, but one thing is for sure: My schedule changes often, so keep visiting the calendar for updates….
Saludos,
Daisy
Hi Daisy,
I just want to let you know what an inspiration you and your show, Daisy Cooks, have been to me. I love your recipes and your upbeat and engaging personality. I’ve taped all your episodes and I watch you to inspire new recipes and cheer me up when I’m down. You truly are a beautiful person inside and out - thanks for bringing Latino food and culture to the forefront.
Dear Shauny:
Your support is very important, and your kind words make it all worth it!
Gracias y Saludos!
Dear Daisy.
Thanks much: Richard
Thanks Richard! You are too kind! As soon as I have a concrete idea of what’s next for Daisy Cooks! I will inform you all..we are working hard on going back to studio soon..

Daisy
Best of luck with everything.
Rachelle: You are so sweet!
Im currently in the process of choosing a new home, and I will let you all know pretty soon where to find me next!

Daisy
Hi Daisy… Your food is fabulous! Thank you for such a wondeful book.. I love it! I would also love to see you in person so that you can sign my book… I live near The Culinary institute of America. Do you plan on visiting the school to do a demo? You need to show these people what “real” Puerto Rican food really tastes like…LOL
Lisa querida amiga:
Keep visiting the site for updates on my whereabouts. I just did a dinner at CIA Greystone, CA, but have no plans to do anything at the East Coast location as of yet..

Hi Daisy,
My Great Grandmother is from Ponce and has left us a long time ago, but I still remember the frangrance and taste of authentic Puerto Rican food.
LOL….
Chenelle
Dear Chenelle:

Hugs and kisses!
Dear Ruthy:
The holidays wouldn’t be the same without Pasteles, so I am glad you decided to give them a try this year..
Feliz Navidad!
Daisy
Dear Daisy:
Rosalind
Dear Rosalind:
Please keep me posted on your pasteles; I would love to hear about the finished product, so please, send me a picture!
Feliz Navidad from Buenos Aires!

Dear Daisy,
I moved to Cary North Carolina in June from New Jerey.

I just wanted to say that your book and your shows have completely changed the way I cook. My family and friends all have remarked what a great cook I am, and I really owe that to you. I have always wanted my home to be warm and inviting full of love and food and what I have learned from you has made that possible. Thank you, Daisy.
Thanks Danielle! I love your email.
thank you for your kind words!

Daisy
I stumbled upon your show about a month ago and I am very very happy that I did! All your dishes make my mouth water and make me hungry too!!! I just purchased your cookbook and I can’t wait to try your recipes! I love foods from all cultures. You are so passionate about your heritage and I think that is awesome! My culture as far as our food and our language has a lot of spanish influences, watching you takes me back home and I am MANY MANY miles from home. So not only do you bring comfort food, but comfort from feeling at home if that makes any sense. Keep up the good work and I hope to see you on tv for years to come!
Dear Bea:
Thanks for a wonderful letter. I’m so happy to hear of how inspired you are by my book!
Saludos hermana,
Daisy
Dear Daisy,
I’m an old school cook - like you.
Dios te bendiga linda!

I can not wait to see your new show. I know it is going to be as good as the one you have now, or even better.

Hola Daisy,

Daisy
